LEAGUE OF LEGENDS - ARCANE

“Welcome to the Playground” is the title of the first episode of League of Legends - Arcane, an animated NETFLIX series based on one of the hottest free-to-play strategy games in the world and released on the game's 10th anniversary. To serve the millions of fans and players a special eye-catcher for the start of the series, we brought the playground from the virtual world into reality and immortalized the two main characters Jinx and Vi larger than life on two Berlin building facades as hand-painted murals.

With Christoph from Brands & Beyond, who has been looking for League of Legends for years, we had a real “gaming nerd” at the start. Just by mentioning the words Jinx and Vi, the first images and scenes popped into his head and based on the LORE content, we then created the first two strands of ideas together and sketched the rough styles of the murals. The next step was to select suitable illustrators from our huge CONCRETE CANDY portfolio, from which Riot Games ultimately picked one for each idea. After the first draft phase, we then decided together on the concept, in which we give each of the sisters their own mural, but show the deep connection between them and connect the past with the future. And since Brazil is not only home to super talented footballers, but also really good illustrators, we had our man Jânio García from São Paulo develop the two artworks based on the concept we came up with. We then “jinx'd” them with the typical LoL style before we finally painted them on the two capital city facades within a few days.

For the content production, we specifically linked the appropriate clips from the trailer with some passages from the murals and their place of origin, Berlin. And even though JINX Monkey didn't make it onto the mural in the end, the fans of the game and series were thrilled throughout. ATTENTION: Binge watch danger!
